Ms. Ernestine was so special to our family. She and Pick played cards with my mom and dad, Bob & Bobbie Sanders and along with such other family members as The Hamricks & The Morrises from Stevenson, AL. They also attended the same church, Stevenson United Methodist Church. Ms. Ernestine went on a trip to Europe with my mom, Bobbie Sanders, and others in the group, in the early 1980's and my mom still talks about that trip to this day and what a wonderful experience they both enjoyed together. May God be with all in the Russell family at this time and let's all be thankful that Ms. Ernestine enjoyed her life on this earth and what a wonderful experience her past students had having a teacher that always corrected her students not to say "where is that at!" Love, Janie Sanders Vega & Bob & Bobbie Sanders
So sorry to hear this, she was a wonderful friend & a great teacher. RIP Mrs Russell
Dear Mary Lucille and Emily,
I'm sorry I can't be there, double ear infections prevent me driving. I have always loved your Mom and Mr Pick, from the time I was a child. Ernestine was always kind and sincere all through my life; I always enjoyed talking with her . She and Mr. Pick made me feel they were genuinely interested in what was happening with my life and my family, which I so very much appreciated because of the heart felt deep respect I had for both them. I will be for ever thankful she was my English teacher. Even to this day, I cringe when someone says, "at", ending the question, "where are you?". Also when the wrong tense of a verb is used, she will forever be with me. My sincerest sympathy for your lost and best wishes to you both.
Kay Smith Metcalf
Long time gifted teacher who taught many Stevenson children. We all will miss you.
Emily and all the Russell family, it was a pleasure to know Mr. and Mrs. Russell. What a legacy they both left on Stevenson and Jackson County! May their memory always live on in the many people they have touched along the way. Love and Prayers.
