Such a special lady! I think every student that came through her classroom has a "Mrs. Rubye" story to recall. Maybe it was something we were praised for, maybe it was a situation where she called us out on something. Either way...those stories make us smile. I think the only subject she ever emphasized that I haven't necessarily used on a daily basis is the metric system. But she was certainly going to have us ready for the predicted conversion! And who knows...she may still have the last laugh on us with that one.

I still recall the Van De Graaff generator, and the flame tests for the various elements in her chemistry class. Her enthusiasm set quite a few of us on the path to a career in various scientific fields.

Many people, when asked how they would like to be remembered, say they just want to have made a difference for someone. Mrs.Thomas made a difference for a lot of us.

We thank you and we will miss you ...save us all a spot up there so we can visit again.

Dear Wendell and family,
My heart breaks for you. During your time of loss. I have so many memories of Mrs. Thomas, to many to mention them all. I always enjoyed being in her company, because she made you feel like you and she were the only ones in the room. My fondest memories of her are being at church with her. She was truly a GODLY woman. I know she will be sorely missed. The final bell has rung, rest now, Mrs. Thomas!

Ms. Thomas was one of those teachers that was strict but loved you at the same time. From dissecting to her gum jar, there was genuine caring for each student. She taught us respect and manners and honesty. Even at each reunion, she joined us to talk about the good old days. Always a smile and always a positive word and well wishes. Thank you Ms. Thomas for touching all of our lives and for forever being a part of our growing up. You lived your life honestly, happily, and constantly thinking of others. Rest In Peace sweet lady!

Words cannot describe the remarkable woman Miss Thomas. She was so special in so many ways. I learned so much from her from our many conversations in school and out. No matter how long in between we had seen each other, she never forgot who I was. She was sharp as a tac. I adored her for her loyalty to her students, her job, and most of all her honesty. May God rest her beautiful soul and Mr Russell met her with open arms. Til we meet again, I'll be expecting you to be waiting for me as well. See you later sweet lady!
