Aileen Morris Gilliland, 90, of Bridgeport, AL died peacefully at home on January 8, 2017. Born April 29, 1926 in Fayette, AL, she is predeceased by her parents, Huston and Josie Rainey Morris, and her late husband of 68 years, Nolie Louis Gilliland and two sisters: Nellagee and Yuleigh.
Aileen was a devoted wife and mother who spent much of her life caring for her family. She was a talented gardener and caring for her flowers was one of her greatest passions. She loved to hike and spent many summers camping and enjoying the outdoors. Aileen was a Sunday School teacher for many years and a member of The First Baptist Church in Bridgeport.
Mrs. Gilliland is survived by her children Gary (Teresa) Gilliland, Donna (Rudder) Williams, Paul Gilliland, Phillip (Peggy) Gilliland, Jeffery (Gail) Gilliland, Christy (Bill) Lawrence; grandchildren, Eric (Tabitha) Gilliland, Matthew (Amanda) Gilliland, Peggy (Charley) Smith, Becky (Brandon) Hubbard, Olivia (Neil) Bizzoco, Sara (Ben) Bowman, Wendy (Kyle) Fuhrman, Amber (Randy) Teeters, Andy (Misty) Gilliland, Katye Gilliland, Jodi Lawrence; 18 great grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchildren and her devoted dog, Henry.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Aileen’s special caregivers, Judy Cantrell and Diane Haley and friend Shirley Riggs for their love and friendship. Also, to the staff at New Beacon Hospice for their care.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Pinehaven Memorial Gardens with Bro. Houston Thomas officiating beginning at 1:00PM.
