Betty Jo Bean Smith, 80 of Huntsville, AL, died October 21, 2012 at Highlands Medical Center in Scottsboro, AL. Betty was the daughter of the late James Isaac and Bessie Ann Matthews Bean born September 20, 1932 in Stevenson, Alabama. She was a Stevenson High School Graduate Class of 1951. Betty had worked as a bank teller.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Franklin Roosevelt "Scrunty" Smith; sisters: Beatrice Bean Bradford, Evelyn Bean Farnochi; and nephew Joe Bradford.
Survivors include her sister Dorothy Bean Gamble of Scottsboro, AL; nieces and nephews: Judy Armes of Scottsboro, AL, Stanley Gamble of Langston, AL, Jimmy Farnochi of NY, Shirley Bradford of WA; great-nieces, great-nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be Tuesday, 5-9 PM CDT at Rudder Funeral Home in Stevenson, AL. The funeral service will be Wednesday, October 24, at 2 PM CDT at the funeral home chapel officiated by Rev. Bill Stone. Interment will be in Longacre Cemetery. www.rudderfuneralhomes.com
