Betty Jo Bevel Watson, 77 of Jasper, TN, passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2014. A lifelong resident of the area and a retiree of TVA. She was a graduate of Bridgeport High School. In addition to her many years of service with TVA, she also worked for the City of Bridgeport, AL for a number of years. She was very active in her chapter of the TVA Retiree's Association, serving for a number of years as the Treasurer of the group. Additionally, she was very active in a number of community service projects through the years including renovation of the Bridgeport Depot, building of the Bridgeport Community Center and various Class Reunions. Mrs. Watson was a member of First Baptist Church in Bridgeport.
She is preceded in death by her husband Willard Watson; parents Edward and Laura Bevel; brothers: John and Robert Bevel; and sister Odessa Werner.
She is survived by her son Bryan Watson of Oceanside, CA; grandson Zachary Watson and great-grandson Isaiah Watson both of Indianapolis, IN.; sister Bessie B. Graham of Cookeville, TN; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 4 PM to 8 PM CT at Rudder Funeral Home in Bridgeport, AL. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, February 13, at 1 PM CT at the Rudder Funeral Home chapel. Burial will follow at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens in Jasper, TN. www.rudderfuneralhomes.com
