I remember the day that my dear friend, Bruce, made his transition to Heaven. Whenever he would walk into the ICU he would walk to the Pyxis and see what meds/IV fluids we would be needing. Once he was finished, he would ALWAYS stop at the desk area & lean on the counter and just look around and not saying anything. But when I would see him, I always got him to talk to me since I talk & joke with those that mean a lot to me. Bruce was one of those people that I could call my friend. He always teased me when he sensed my frustration and offered me some support and suggestions that would help me feel better. I had my last conversation with him on the day that he passed. He stopped at the desk and talked to me about 15 minutes teasing me again. Again, he suggested what I needed to settle down. Finally, I told him that I had to go home and get on the road back to Huntsville. I will never forget my last words to him and that was, “Goodbye Bruce” and as I walked passed him, I patted him on the shoulder. Rest in Peace my friend. I worked with Bruce for years at North Jackson Hospital and he was a great guy and friend. He was my aide several times when I was a patient there and always very kind and helpful. Love and prayers for his family and friends.
