Carolyn Jean Thompson Lyda, 68 of Stevenson, AL and formerly of Bridgeport, AL died January 27, 2015 at her home. Carolyn was the daughter of the late Tom and Ella Jane Carlisle Thompson born January 4, 1947 in Hollywood, AL. She had worked as a spinner with Shaw Industires. She was a member of Stevenson Holiness Church and South Pittsburg Church of God.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years Joseph Wesley Lyda and sisters Daisy Sisk and Elizabeth Mayes.
Survivors include her children: Frances (Phillip) Atterton of Whitwell, TN, Rhonda Smith of Stevenson, Terry (Denise) Winters of Bridgeport, AL, Michael Winters of Stevenson, Jerry Winters of Stevenson; step-daughter JoAnn Colvin of Bridgeport; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings: George (Gladys Faye) Thompson of Hollywood, AL, Gilbert (Peggy) Thompson of Scottsboro, AL, Linda (Martin) Pace and Peggy Marcum both of GA, Sue Morris of PA; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be Thursday 2-9 PM CT at Rudder Funeral Home in Stevenson, AL. The funeral service will be Friday, January 30, at 2 PM CT at the funeral home chapel officiated by Bro. David Swanner. Interment will follow in the Price Cemetery in Hollywood, AL. www.rudderfuneralhomes.com
