Charles Edward Helton's Obituary
Charles Edward "Deacon" Helton, 94 of Chattanooga, TN, was born in Bridgeport, AL on March 1, 1923 to John T. and Rosie Howard Helton and he passed away June 24, 2017. He served in World War II with General MacArthur and was so proud to be an American Veteran. He served as choir director for several churches and enjoyed singing with several family members for many years.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers and four sisters.
Charles is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Kathleen Beavers Helton; sister Edna Lovejoy and a nephew, Wayne Gothard, whom he looked upon as a brother, and several other nephews and nieces. The family would like to thank Avalon Hospice for their excellent care of Charles for the last few months.
There will be no visitation. He will be laid to rest in the Chattanooga National Cemetery after a military salute on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at 2:00 PM ET. www.rudderfuneralhomes.com
