Charles Edward "Monroe" McCrary, 63 of Stevenson, AL died January 11, 2011 at his home.
Charles was the son of the late J.R. and Laura Frances Ferguson McCrary born May 18, 1947 in Stevenson, AL. He was a U.S. Navy Vietnam War Veteran having served two terms in Vietnam with the Seabees. He attended Northeast Alabama Community College for four years. "Monroe" was a retired diesel mechanic with Southern Railway.
Survivors include his former wife Elizabeth Jane Wilson Talley; children: James (Christina) McCrary and Sandra Cantrell all of Stevenson, AL; grandchildren: Charlie Smith, Candis Cantrell, Rebecca Townson, Lee McCrary, Tyler McCrary, Nikki McCrary, Cheyenne McCrary; Caleb Sprinkel, Christopher Dolberry, Taylor Sprinkel, Dylan Sprinkel, Nichlous Sprinkel; great-grandchild Allison Townson and expecting another great-grandchild of Candis Cantrell on July 25th; siblings: J.C. McCrary, Ann Fletcher, Sylvia Jean Chelton all of TN, Robert McCrary, Donna Guffey, Brenda McCrary, and Rachel Olinger; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be two hours prior to the funeral service on Saturday, January 15, beginning at 11 AM CT and the funeral will be at 1 PM CT at Rudder Funeral Home in Stevenson, AL. Interment will be at Havron Chapel Cemetery in Jasper, TN. www.rudderfuneralhomes.com
