Although I don’t remember the exact date, I remember well the first time I saw Gene and The Singing Browns when they visited Centennial Baptist Church outside Stevenson Alabama. I remember seeing them several times after that and my family and I loved to listen to them and thought they were so sophisticated compared to everyone else. I remember running around playing at a coop fellowship dinner our church had with my cousins and Derenda. Years later my sweet cousin Leon married LaTresa and Katrina was added to the family of The Singing Browns. We were blessed to know Gene and the family. You have my deepest sympathies for your loss, but I am sure Gene is leading a singing on heavenly shores and rejoicing to be reunited with those that went on before. Sorry we couldn’t be with you. Gene was always a great neighbor; he would always have a smile on his face & a friendly wave for us. We knew if we ever needed anything, that the Brown family would be there for us. We've enjoyed the music from the CD's the Singing Browns gave us through the years. He will be dearly missed; but we are thankful his family will still be just down the road from us. The Brown family has had a lot of sorrow the last 4 years, with all of the deaths in their family, our hearts and prayers are with all of you as you bury your Father & Grandfather.
