My thoughts and prayers are with the Coates Family in your loss. Unlike most, my memories of Coach Coates were more about him attending his children's programs at school than coaching football. I was amazed that he could take time out of his busy school schedule to attend Patrick 's elementary programs. My daughter, Claire, always spoke highly of Coach Coates. He will be missed.
I knew David back during the High School days. Served in Doc and Judy Thomas's wedding alone with David. Just a great, genuine, and very funny guy. He always had a smile on his face. One of the greatest athletes to ever play in the valley. My condolences go out to his family. I know he will greatly missed. It was a pleasure to have known him.
My son Lee played football for you. You were a good coach. May you be remembered for all the good things that you did in your life. RIP
Dav and I started elementary school together and graduated high school together in '73. I will always remember the teenager that always enjoyed life. He was a great football player for BHS and team leader. My heart goes out to his family. He will be missed but just remember that loveable, fun loving guy we all knew. Thats how I will remember him. RIP my friend.
