Delois Parilee Scruggs Ragland, 76 of Akron, OH originally of Stevenson, AL, died February 25, 2015 at her home. Delois was the daughter of the late Otis and Lula Hollins Scruggs born April 5, 1938 in Stevenson, AL. She is preceded in death by her husband Tommie Ragland; son Jerry, grandson Raemon Charles and brother, Rev. Horace Scruggs. Mrs. Ragland retired in 1997 from Hawthorne State Hospital in Northfield, OH after 32 years of service as a cook. She continued her love for cooking at home for family and friends. "Aunt Delois" was famous for her turkey and dressing, which everyone loved. She was a faithful member and deaconess of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Stevenson, AL.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory: Terry Ragland Tommie Ragland, Jr.; daughters: Loretta Charles, Gilder Jones all of Akron; sister Carrie Ward of Stevenson, AL; granddaughters: Dionna, Ricarda, Brandie, Shamika, Randi, Jabree, Tiara, Tiana all of Akron, grandson Richmond Charles III of Hartford, Conn.; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; special niece Anna Smith and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The Homegoing Service will be held 1 PM CT on Saturday, March 7, at Rudder Funeral Home in Stevenson, AL. Viewing will begin at noon prior to the service. Rev. Kelvert Scruggs and Rev. Stevie Smith will officiate the service. Interment will be in the Cross Cemetery. www.rudderfuneralhomes.com
