Dick Ballard, 96 of Stevenson, AL, peacefully passed away at his home on February 29, 2012. Dick was the son of the late Luther Martin and Nancy Ferguson Ballard born January 1, 1916 in Bridgeport, AL. He retired as supervisor after 47 years at Avondale Mills. Mr. Ballard was a member of First Baptist Church in Stevenson, Bolivar Masonic Lodge #127 and Scottish Rite of Free Masonry in Chattanooga, TN.
Besides his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his sisters: Mabel Blevins, Kitty Carroll, Pauline Stewart, Lillian Click and brother Roy Ballard.
Survivors include his wife of 75 years Edna Pearl Peters Ballard; children: Wallace (Barbara) Ballard of Bridgeport, AL, Nancy (Jimmy) Keller of Hollywood, AL, Richard (Donna) Ballard of Stevenson, AL, Roger (Betty Ann) Ballard of Bridgeport, AL; 8 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sister Frances Carroll of Stevenson, AL; special friend Doris Davis of Stevenson, AL; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be Thursday, 5-9 PM at Rudder Funeral Home in Stevenson, AL. The funeral service will be Friday, March 2, at 2 PM at the funeral home chapel officiated by Rev. Buster McCulley. Interment will be in the Stevenson City Cemetery. www.rudderfuneralhomes.com.
