Donna Marie Steen Thompson, 62 of Stevenson, AL, died January 31, 2015 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, TN. She was born in Johnson City, Tennessee, October 22, 1952 to William Donald and Lilly Mae Shelton Steen; grandparents: Vernon V. and Bertie Ethel Adams Steen, Roscoe C. and Maggie Marie Campbell Shelton. She was a retired Registered Nurse having worked at North Jackson Hospital and South Pittsburg Hospital. She was a graduate of the University of Alabama and Northeast Alabama Community College and has a Bachelor Degree in Nursing.
Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years Jimmy Lee Thompson, Sr.; parents; grandparents; and Dewitt and Odell Jenkins Thompson; sisters: Linda Steen Thompson, Venema Honea, Carolyn Rodgers; brothers: Lynn Allen Steen, Terry L. Jordan, John W. Thompson, and Jack Thompson.
Survivors include her children: Kathy Marie (Ty) Duke of Smyrna, TN, Jimmy L. "Bump" (Stacey) Thompson, Jr. and Brandon D. (Tami) Thompson of Scottsboro, AL; grandchildren: Justin Thompson, Kurt McKnight, Jonathan and Carson Thompson, Brentt Batts, Nikki Thompson, Destiny Patterson, Jacob Patterson, Braxton Thompson, John and Shon Clark, Karigan Garner; great-grandchildren: Elizabeth Marie McKnight, Dallas R. Thompson, Bryant L. Thompson and soon-to-be Brock Batts; sisters: Phyliss Gipson of South Pittsburg, TN, Beverly Kilgore, Faye (Carl) Atkins of Bridgeport, AL, Sarah Thompson of Palm Harbor, FL, Joyce Shafer of Chattanooga, TN; brothers: Jeff Steen of Sequatchie, TN, Gary "Buddy" Thompson of Bridgeport, AL; brother-in-law Fred Rodgers of Crow Mountain, AL; beloved companions Sam and Daisy Thompson of Stevenson, AL, Aunt Mollie and Aunt Alice; a bunch of wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
A Graveside Service will be Saturday, February 7, at 12 noon at Pinehaven Memorial Gardens in Hollywood, AL. Rudder Funeral Home in Stevenson, AL assisted the family with arrangements. www.rudderfuneralhomes.com
