Mr. Edgar Bryan Bean, Sr.'s Obituary
Edgar Bryan Bean, Sr. (1948 – 2023)
Edgar Bryan Bean, Sr. passed away peacefully on February 21, 2023. Eddy was the first born of Billy Bean and Betty Carroll Bean on May 26, 1948 in Stevenson, Alabama. He graduated from Stevenson High School.
Eddy is survived by his three children, Julie Bean Paterson, Edgar Bryan Bean, Jr, and Audra Bean Willyerd. He is also survived by his sister Theresa Ades, brother Tommy Bean, sister Shirley Bean, stepsister Melanie Bradford, and his beautiful grandchildren, Savannah, Marilyn, Sofia, and Amelia. Eddy was predeceased by his parents Bill Bean and Betty Ranney and his sister Carroll Bean.
Eddy grew up with the same love of the outdoors as his dad. From working as a logger and skidder operator and raising cattle and horses, to sowing his garden, tending his yard, and running, he truly loved time in nature. He instilled this love in his children through hunting, horse shows, cutting down the Christmas trees for his family and the church each year, how to meticulously take care of a yard, and how to perfectly stack the winter firewood outside.
He was ardently stubborn and direct which always drew people to him with a fervor and likeability that few could attain. Maybe it was his honesty and matter-of-fact ways but he could persuade even the coldest of people to laugh with him with his sly eye and mischievous look. To that end he fought and seemingly beat stage 4 melanoma for over a decade, staring death in the face multiple times and once again, with that mischievous look, telling death it would come when he was good and ready. His body defied what most would never have been able to endure.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at Rudder Funeral Home in Stevenson, AL. The family insists that, in lieu of sending flowers, please donate to Avalon Hospice of Chattanooga or the Melanoma Research Alliance.
