Mrs. Elizabeth Jean Morris' Obituary
Elizabeth Jean Caperton Morris, 87, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2022 in Marietta, GA.
Born on May 30, 1935 in Stevenson, AL to James and Madge Caperton, she graduated from Stevenson High School and received a degree in Education from Auburn University.
She began teaching 6th graders and 8th grade science in Fort Benning, GA. While there she met Army Lieutenant Richard “Heavy” Morris. Heavy fell in love with Jean’s feisty spirit when she charged him 5 cents for a sandwich when he stopped by her house.
They were married at Ft Benning on December 19, 1964. While stationed in San Francisco with the Army, they welcomed daughter Ann Elizabeth.
Their family adventures brought them across the globe living in Germany, Korea, and Belgium as well as many locations in the United States before making Marietta, GA their home. They made many friends along the way including the Wild Goose crew.
Jean was well known for her wit. She loved to tell a good joke to her friends and family. Even as her health declined her sense of humor did not. Her quick quips would bring bouts of laughter even in her last days.
She leaves a big hole in the heart of her family and friends who were entertained by these stories, jokes, and antics. She truly brought the life to the party. No matter the circumstance you would always leave with a new story or joke.
Jean is survived by her daughter and several nieces and nephews: Ann Morris, Ellen Ann Tipton and Kayte Tipton, Stuart Dyer, Julie Dyer, Cathy Potter, Bill Morris, Hilary Tamburro, John Cook Rudder, Mary Etta Rowe and several great and great-great nieces and a great nephew.
Special thanks to Rosalyn Shepherd,
Daisy Armstrong, Debra Dorsey, Carol Shepherd, Tyasia Jones, Beverly Wembeley, and Bykota Ejaife for taking such great care of Jean and Richard for over 15 years. They loved you.
Jean is now at peace joining her husband, her parents, her siblings, Jimmy Caperton and Jane Tipton, and niece Betsy Jeffries as well as many treasured friends. That is one fun party reunited! She was one of a kind and will never be forgotten but forever remembered and missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Flowers are welcome. Memorials can be made to the charity of your choice.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 23rd, 2022 at Rudder Funeral Home of Stevenson, Alabama beginning at 12:00 P.M.
Services will follow in the Chapel at Rudder Funeral Home of Stevenson beginning at 1:00 P.M.
