Ellen Magdaline Brown, 73 of Whittier, NC and native of Stevenson, AL, died December 7, 2009 at Mountain View Manor in Bryson, NC. Ellen was born in Stevenson, AL to Lawrence Edwin and Willie Hugh Ridley Brown on November 30, 1936. She had been an Emergency Room Supervisor at West Palm Beach Hospital in FL and also a nurse at Oak Ridge Hospital in TN. Ellen was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Billy Ray and Robert Delano "R.D." Brown.
Ellen is survived by her children: Catherine King of Port Lucie, FL, Patricia King (Stephen) Floor of Whittier, NC, Donald Westley King of West Palm Beach, FL; grandsons Albert Anthony Laessig of Jupiter, FL and Michael Paul Laessig stationed at a naval base in CA; former husband Barton King of Whittier, NC; brothers and sisters: Edna Stallings, Kenneth Brown both of Stevenson, AL, Mildred Sebring of Bridgeport, AL, Edward Brown of Kingsport, TN; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be Thursday, 4-8 PM CT at Rudder Funeral Home in Stevenson, AL. The funeral will be Friday, December 11, at 11 AM CT at the funeral home chapel officiated by Rev. George Maynor. Interment will be at Stevenson City Cemetery.
