Ellen Virginia Johnson Smith, 80 of Bridgeport, AL, died October 2, 2013 at her home. Ellen had worked as a boarder over 25 years at South Pittsburg Knitting Mill.
Ellen was the daughter of the late James L. and Martha Coffelt Johnson born July 29, 1933 in Tennessee.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Franklin "Sleepy" Smith; siblings: Elsie Hall Wynn, Samuel Newton Johnson, and James Charles Johnson.
Survivors include her daughter Dinah (Jerome) Smith Moore; grandson Justin Moore all of Bridgeport, AL; siblings: Shirley (Grace) Johnson of New Hope, TN, Maggie Hall and Lana Kay Johnson both of South Pittsburg, TN, Geraldine Blevins of New Hope, TN; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be Thursday, 2-9 PM CDT at Rudder Funeral Home in Bridgeport, AL. The funeral service will be Friday, October 4, at 2 PM CDT at the funeral home chapel officiated by Bro. Ronnie Case and Bro. Neil Smith. Interment will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. www.rudderfuneralhomes.com.
