Eva Ruth Stewart Matthews, 86 of Scottsboro, AL, died July 11, 2013 at Rose Wood Manor. Eva was the daughter of the late Jesse James and Eva Fern Hall Stewart born March 18, 1927 in South Pittsburg, Tennessee. She was a Bridgeport High School Graduate. She had worked over 30 years as a TVA Widows Creek Steam Plant Coal Records Clerk. Eva was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Order of Eastern Star in Bridgeport, AL.
Besides her parents, Eva was preceded in death by her husband Bill Lynn Matthews, son James Edward Matthews and step-grandson Jamie Clayton.
Survivors include her brother William (Linda) Stewart of Florence, AL; grandchildren: Mandy Matthews (Nigel) Hall and Robbie Matthews all of Chattanooga, TN; niece Cindy (Joel) Linam of Florence and other relatives.
Visitation will be Friday, 5-8 PM CDT at Rudder Funeral Home in Bridgeport, AL. The funeral service will be Saturday, July 13, at 11 AM CDT at the funeral home chapel officiated by Rev. Perry Whitaker. Interment will be in Cumberland View Cemetery in Kimball, TN. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in memory of Eva Matthews to Orange Grove Center, 615 Derby St., Chattanooga, TN 37404.
