Evelyn Lyda Carroll
formerly of Stevenson, Al
Sarah Evelyn Lyda Carroll, former long-time resident of Stevenson, AL, passed away on January 9, 2017. She was a retired employee of TVA at Widow's Creek Power Plant where she worked for 31 years. Mr. Carroll was a member of Stevenson Advent Christian Church for over 60 years where she served as a Sunday School teacher, secretary, treasurer, and secretary of the Alabama A.C. Conference. In recent years, she became a member of Hope Community Fellowship in Loganville, GA. She was a graduate of Bridgeport High School and McKenzie Business College.
Mrs. Carroll was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, James Thomas "J.T." Carroll; her parents Jacob Cleveland and Minnie Smith Lyda; six brothers: James, Wesley, Henry, Bill, Charles and J.C. Lyda and one sister Louise Lyda.
She is survived by one daughter, Patricia (Ted) Franklin; two granddaughters, Jamie Franklin and Jennifer (Matt) Ludewig, four great-grandchildren: Emma Barragan, Lucia Barragan, Hayley Ludewig and Evie Ludewig and one brother, David P. Lyda.
The family will receive family and friends at Rudder Funeral Home in Stevenson, AL on Saturday, January 14, 12-2 PM CT. A service in her memory will be held in the funeral home chapel following visitation beginning at 2 PM CT. Her pastor, Rev. Brent Ross, will be the officiant. Interment will be in Stevenson City Cemetery.
