Frances M. Crouch Broome, 91 of Norfolk, VA, passed away peacefully in her home on April 6, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband Carl Robert Broome, Sr. and grandchildren: Stephen Forbes, Allison Kelley, Rory Hill, and Kimberly Forbes-Brinkley and parents Robert J. and Belle Marie Cherry Crouch.
She was a longtime resident of Norfolk. She retired from the Norfolk Navy Exchange, was a member of Norview Baptist Church and the Ladies Auxiliary Fleet Reserve Association Unit 60. "Mamaw" was a proud navy wife who opened her home and heart to many of our service men and women. Everyone knew her as "Mamaw" and she was loved by all.
Survivors include her six children: Billy (Paula) Broome, Jerry Short, Ann (Russ) Vann, Brenda (Sam) Short, Donna Forbes, Susan Lindsey; 21 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild along with extended family of Sally Hamel, Cheryl Sutphin and Debbie (Gerbil) Meade.
The funeral service was held on Wednesday in Norfolk, VA at Hollomon-Brown Tidewater Drive Chapel. The local visitation will be Friday12-3 PM CDT at Rudder Funeral Home in Bridgeport.
