George Moore Barton, 59 of Moscow, TN, died unexpectedly Monday, April 11, 2011, at Germantown Methodist Hospital in TN.
George was the son of the late George Willie and Charlie Ann Moore Barton born February 20, 1952 in Charleston, MS. He resided in Memphis for over 35 years. He was a graduate of Northwest Community College in MS and Methodist School of Respiratory Therapy. He joined St. Joseph Hospital East on January 27, 1975 which later became St. Francis Hospital Park. He transitioned to a management career with St. Francis Bartlett where he was Director of Cardiopulmonary Services. Mr. Barton served on various hospital committees, most recently the Employees of Choice Committee and was a member of the National Board of Respiratory Care. George enjoyed being a mentor to his healthcare students at the hospital.

George and his beloved wife, Donna, enjoyed traveling. He had a great love for the mountains and traveling to Hawaii, where both have fond memories of their marriage. There was never any doubt about the preeminent position Donna had in his life. George loved music and got a kick out of playing pranks on his co-workers! His quiet humor was a continuing joy to all who knew him. He was a passionate animal lover. There was never a stray dog or cat that didn't find a home at their house. George worked hard and lived large. Family was "everything" to George, his love for family and friends was felt by all. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his nephew Clark Mabus.
George is survived by his devoted wife of 23 years Donna Gail Goodman Barton; sisters: Mary Jo (David) Harrison and Diane Mabus all of Charleston, MS; sisters-in-law: Jenny (Jack) Bramlette of Tampa, FL and Coleen (Jack) Orr of Kansas City, MO; a host of honorary family members in Bridgeport, AL; nieces, nephews and other friends.
