George Scott Harper's Obituary
George Scott Harper, age 79 of Woodville, AL, passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at his home. Born to the late Andrew and Ruby Harper, Scott was a graduate from Jackson County High School’s Class of 1955. He became employed with the US Army Corp of Engineers in 1963. Prior to his retirement in 1995, he was superintendant of Jim Woodruff Lock and Dam on Lake Seminole in Chattahoochee, FL, Walter F. George Lock and Dam on Lake Eufaula in Ft. Gaines, GA, and West Point Powerhouse. He also helped oversee the construction of US West Point Powerhouse on West Point Lake in West Point, GA. He was a long standing member of the Grand Lodge of Georgia F.& A. M. Masonic Cross Lodge #173. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Saundra Mitchell Harper; daughter, Holly Kay Harper Alberti and husband Carlos of Trinity, AL; son, Timothy Scott Harper and wife Lauren of Murfreesboro, TN; grandchildren, Carlos Alberti, Jr and wife Mallory, Alexander Storm Alberti and wife Cathryn, Savannah Marie Alberti, Benjamin Scout Alberti, Katherine Reneau Harper, and Samuel Scott Harper; great-grandchildren, Adily Brook, Lakyn Brooklyn, Ryker James, and Harlen Storm Alberti; and sister, Patricia and Bill Arnold of Scottsboro, AL. Besides his parents, Mr. Harper is also preceded in death by his brother, Andrew E. Harper Jr., and niece Georgina Lee Arnold Bradford. The family will receive friends from 12-1 pm on Friday, April 7, 2017 at Rudder Funeral Home in Scottsboro. The memorial service will be held at 1 pm in the funeral home chapel with Bro.
