Georgia Mae Dawson Cox, 95 of Bridgeport, AL, died January 5, 2013 at The Bridge in South Pittsburg, TN. She was the daughter of the late George Alexander and Latta Mae Poe Dawson born December 11, 1917 in Bridgeport, Alabama.
Mrs. Cox had worked as the head accountant at North Alabama Electric Co-op for over 40 years. She was educated at Montevallo College. She was a member of: Sweetens Cove Church of Christ where her husband preached for years; Professional Business Women’s Club, Mt. Carmel Cemetery Committee, Band Boosters and PTA.
Besides her parents, Mrs. Cox was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years William Preston Cox; son Roger Preston Cox; siblings: Ruby Keith, Raymond Alexander Dawson, Woodrow Jackson Dawson, Lee Arlin Dawson, and James Terry Dawson.
Survivors include: daughter Rose Ann (Mark) Rich of Elora, TN, grandson Mark Wayne Rich; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be Monday, 5-9 PM CT at Rudder Funeral Home in Bridgeport, AL. The funeral will be Tuesday, January 8, at 2 PM CT at the funeral home chapel officiated by Gardner Scott and Tim Storey. Interment will be in the Mt. Carmel Cemetry. www.rudderfuneralhomes.com.
