Gerald "Jerry" Ernie Chism, 68 of Bridgeport, AL, died January 1, 2015. "Jerry" was the son of Elmo and Velma Jordan Chism born November 11, 1956 in Cook Co. Illinois. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. "Jerry" was a member of Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star of Jasper, TN, VFW and a former member of Bridgeport City Board and active member of the Utility Board. He was of the Baptist faith. He had worked at Siskin Steel as a steel cutter.
Mr. Chism was preceded in death by his father Elmo Chism; sister Charleen Chism; mother-in-law Beatrice Bain; aunt Louise Vinzant.
Survivors include his mother Velma Jordan Chism of Bridgeport; wife Janice Baine Chism of Bridgeport; sister Wilma Cook; brother Wayne (Emma) Chism; uncle Dub Vinzant of Scottsboro, AL; special nieces and nephews: Judy Crownover, Lisa Delaney, Karen Suggs, John Finney, Jr. Jeff Roland, Jimmy and Jeff Crownover; several other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends
Visitation will be Friday 5-9 PM CT, Saturday 10 AM - 9 PM CT at Rudder Funeral Home in Bridgeport, AL. The funeral service will be Sunday, January 4, at 2 PM CT at the funeral home chapel officiated by Bro. David Smith. Military Honors provided by Sequatchie Valley Honor Guard.
