Mrs. Gina Womack Stewart's Obituary
Gina Womack Stewart, of Scottsboro, passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2026 surrounded by loved ones at the age of 62. Gina was a lifelong resident of Scottsboro. She attended Scottsboro High School where she was a member of the Drum Corp, served as the Drum Major and was a Mat Maid for the wrestling team before graduating in 1983. Anyone who knew Gina remembers well that at any dance (Sock Hop, Homecoming or Prom) she was going to be out on the dance floor! She was a schooled ballerina and a tap dancer playing into her love to dance! She had a fondness for Jazz and the Broadway shows, too. After graduating from high school, Gina attended Auburn University for two years seeking a physics degree that was somewhat derailed when she followed a young man back to Scottsboro who had just graduated in Pharmacy. The physics department begged her to stay but that wasn’t going to happen. She and the young man she followed home had their first date the night of his graduation which turned into 36 wonderful years of marriage. In 2013 and again in 2023, Gina became a Mimi to Addison and Callum. Spending time with both of them brought the most joy to her life. One of her favorite things was taking Addison to Auburn for all things from football, basketball to gymnastics and especially making her little dreams come true when she scored tickets to Taylor Swift!! She enjoyed watching Callum learn to love the water at the beach and the pool. Gina worked at the Lizard Thicket, Lily Pad and Scottsboro Water Sewer and Gas before continuing to work with her husband at Big C Drugs. After retiring from Big C, she and Jeff got to spend lots of time at the beach and on the Loveliest Village on the Plains together.
Gina was a member of the Scottsboro Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she has taught Sunday School and has served the church as a Deacon and Elder. Gina is survived by her husband, Jeff Stewart; son and daughter in law, David Scott and Caitlyn Stewart. Her very loved grandchildren, Addison Brook Stewart and Callum Taylor Stewart. She was preceded in death by her parents Leonard Wayne Womack and Bobbie Lovene Bell Womack. Her grandparents: Leonard Roy (Lank) Womack, Sabina Bass (Peg) Womack, Robert Hugh Bell, Zelma Lovene (Love) Bell. Her father and mother-in-law; Hugh Jefferson Stewart, Jr. and Stroby Ashley Stewart. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to Scottsboro Cumberland Presbyterian Church or to the Eagles Foundation at Auburn University.
