Mrs. Gladys Wright's Obituary
Sister Gladys Vernell Stewart-Wright of Hollywood, Alabama, age 73, left to be with her Heavenly Father Saturday, February 25, 2017 surrounded by her loving family at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, TN. Gladys was born July 9, 1943, Jackson County, Alabama to the late Clyde and Ida Mae Stewart.
Gladys was joined in holy matrimony to Mitchell Wright, October 31, 1959. They were married for 57 years and together they had four sons. Gladys worked at several factories and later worked for Lozier Corp., Scottsboro, AL, where she retired with 28 years. Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Mitchell Wright; two sons, Rickey and Jerome Wright; two sisters, Shirley Trimew and Gwendolyn Mauldin.
Gladys came to Christ at an early age and was a member of New Hope Church, Hollywood, AL. She was the musician there for many years. Later she played for other churches, Cedar Grove CPCA and Wesley Chapel, both of Cedar Grove, AL and St. Paul of Stevenson, AL until her death.
Gladys leaves to cherish her memories two sons, Gregory (Clo) Wright, Scottsboro, AL, Lamar (Paula) Wright, Gadsden, AL; siblings, Grady (Cheryl) Stewart, Jacqueline (Jerry) Evans, both of New Britain, CT, Carl (Pauline) Stewart, Hollywood, AL, Reba Stewart, Scottsboro, AL and Betty (George) Witchard, Huntsville, AL; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 4 from 11 AM until 12 Noon at the Rudder Funeral Home in Scottsboro with the funeral beginning at 12 Noon in the Chapel. Burial will follow in The Old Baptist Cemetery in Hollywood, AL.
