Glen "String" Wilkerson, 89 of Stevenson, Alabama died October 7, 2010 at the home of his daughter in Bridgeport, Alabama.
Glen was the son of the late Joseph Wheeler and Willie Mae Rogers Wilkerson born July 8, 1921 in Sherwood, Tennessee. He worked over 40 years as a doffer at Avondale Mills. "String" loved fishing and hunting as a pasttime.
Besides his parents, Mr. Wilkerson was preceded in death by his wife Orothy T. Gray Wilkerson; son Jimmy Wilkerson; two sisters and four brothers.
Survivors include his children: Willie Mae (J.B.) Payne of Bridgeport, Gilbert Wilkerson of Stevenson; grandchildren: James (Michelle) Wilkerson of Panama City, FL, Sheila (Mike) Huff of Chesapeake, VA, Mary (David) Farkasdi of Charleston, WV, Elaine Taylor of Norfolk, VA, Brian (Heather) Payne of Bridgeport, AL, Kelly Wilkerson and Lonnie Wilkerson both of Nashville, TN, Camron King of Bridgeport, AL; 7 great-grandchildren; sister Jewel Privett of Stevenson, AL; daughter-in-law Brenda Wilkerson of Kimball, TN; sister-in-law Edna Wilkerson of Stevenson, AL; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be Friday, 5-9 PM CDT and Saturday 2-9 PM CDT at Rudder Funeral Home in Stevenson, AL. The funeral service will be 2 PM CDT Sunday, October 10, at the funeral home chapel officiated by Rev. Bud Guess and Rev. Brandon Evans.
