Mr. Gregory W. Washington's Obituary
Gregory W. Washington was born to the late Mr. Ruben Washington and Mrs. Mary Rose Washington in Scottsboro, Alabama on September 22, 1955. He departed this life on Sunday morning, November 9, 2014.
Gregory grew up and attended elementary school in Hollywood and high school at Scottsboro High School. At an early age Gregory gave his life to Christ. After leaving high school he joined the United States Army and served in Germany. Upon being honorably discharged from the Army he returned to Scottsboro where he spent time helping to care for his ill mother until her death. After his mother’s death and due to his own illness, Gregory continued to live in Scottsboro the rest of his life with the loving care and guidance of his devoted “Aunt and Mother” Mrs. Betty Torbert.
Mr. Washington’s memory will be forever cherished by his son, Gregory, Jr. and daughter Jessica Evans; Paternal half-sister Antoniette Walker of Camden, Tennessee; Maternal half-brother Vance McCamey; Maternal aunts; Ruby Boyd of Birmingham, Alabama, Louise Bibbs of Dutton, Ala. Betty Torbert, Linda Tucker, Lucille Matthews and Rosa L. Tucker, all of Hollywood, Ala,, and Willie Tucker of Scottsboro and one uncle, Billy Tucker of Scottsboro, Paternal aunts Mary McGhee of Los Angeles, California, Ella Winston of Chickamauga, Georgia, Dolly Stevens of Stevenson, Mary Washington, Janet McCamey and Suette Washington, all of Hollywood, Jo Washington of Seoul, South Korea; Geneva Washington of Rantoul, IL; and Paternal uncles Herman A. Washington of Portland, Oregon/Hollywood, Alabama and Homer H. Washington of Seoul, South Korea. Additionally, Gregory leaves a host of cousins and friends.
