G.W. Rutledge, 87 of Stevenson, AL, departed his life on May 3, 2010 at Huntsville Hospital. He was the son of the late Homie and Eva Talley Rutledge born October 14, 1922 in Stevenson, Alabama.
Mr. Rutledge served seven years in the United States Army and Marine Corps and was a Veteran of the Korean War. He retired from TVA Widows Creek Steamplant in Stevenson. G.W. accepted Christ at an early age.
Besides his parents, Mr. Rutledge was preceded in death by his wife Uzzie Mae Mitchell Rutledge; son David Cole; grandson Toney Trimew and sister Nettie M. Hutchins.
He leaves to cherish his memory three sons: Cedric (Ruby) Rutledge of Hollywood, AL, Daryll Rutledge of Las Vegas, NV and Charlie (Carol Trimew) Rutledge of Stevenson, AL. A special daughter-in-law Lily Cole of St. Louis, MO; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives, a loving and caring great-niece Kenya (Greg) Chubb and special friend April Matthews.
The wake will be held Friday, 6-7 PM CDT at Rudder Funeral Home in Stevenson, AL. The funeral service will be Saturday, May 8, at 1 PM CDT at the funeral home chapel officiated by Rev. Charles Cobb. Military Honors and Interment will be at Cross Cemetery in Stevenson. www.rudderfuneralhomes.com.
