Harsh "Gene" Bee Man" Venable's Obituary
Harsh “Gene” “Bee Man” Venable, 81 of Scottsboro, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2016 at his home.
He entered the air force in 1954, serving his country for twenty years. Gene spent time in Vietnam, Japan, and Easter Island. While in service he met and married a fellow airman Patricia Ackerley from New York; they had four children together, each born in a different state. Gene retired from the air force and moved back to Scottsboro to begin a second career as a truck driver, plumber, and small business owner. His passion was beekeeping and he could talk for hours about them. He served as vice president of the Jackson County Beekeepers Association. He is survived by his wife Pat Venable; daughter Gail (Loyd) Chapman; sons Kevin (Rebecca) Venable, Brian (Sheila) Venable; grandchildren Bryant (Erica) Venable, Whitney (Chris) Phillips, Brittany Price, Nathan (Haley) Parrish; great grandchildren Elexa Venable, Connor and Owen Phillips, Paisley Parrish, Bruce and Michael Shores, Zayden and Hudson Price; sisters Eloise Womack, Wanda James; brothers Bill Venable, Leon Venable; and several nieces & nephews. He is preceded in death by his daughter Valerie Jean Venable; parents Ethel & Albert Venable; brothers Loyd, Cecil, and Rayford Venable; sister Edith Boone.
Visitation for Mr. Venable will be Monday, August 1, 2016 from 6-9 PM at Rudder Funeral Home in Scottsboro. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at 2 PM from Rudder Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bill Venable and Leon Venable officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
