Herbert Dean Shedd, 87 of Bridgeport, AL died July 15, 2013 at his home. Mr. Shedd was the son of the late Don and Ora Jane Barbee Shedd born January 5, 1926 in Polk County GA. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and had worked as a painter with TVA Widows Creek Steamplant over 30 years. He attended Hopewell Baptist Church and First Baptist Church in Bridgeport, AL.
Besides his parents, Herbert was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years Jewell Inez Boozer Shedd and 9 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 10 years Bobbie June Graves Culpepper Shedd; daughter Shelia Sexton; son Gary (Dawn) Shedd all of Bridgeport, AL; grandchildren: Greg (Debbie) Talley, Gary Wayne (Jessica) Shedd, Dena (Billy Dee) Ross; great-grandchildren: Trisha (Jake) Guthrie, Savannah Rae Ross, Madison Ross; great-great-grandchild Hadley Jewel Guthrie; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be Wednesday, 5-9 PM CDT at Rudder Funeral Home in Bridgeport, AL. The funeral service will be Thursday, July 18, at 2 PM CDT at the funeral home chapel officiated by Rev. Neal Smith and Rev. Rayford Davenport. Interment will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. www.rudderfuneralhomes.com.
