Rev. Dr. Howard W. (Doc) Whitaker died, Sunday, January 26, 2025, following a spirited contest with leukemia. He was 71. A resident of Scottsboro for 28 years, most people knew him as a beekeeper and bookseller. He enjoyed his local anonymity. Most weeks, he flew or drove to work elsewhere. He is survived by his wife and business partner, Kay Elaine Hamrick of Scottsboro. The Episcopal Burial Office will be read at interment in Frankfort, Kentucky.
