Ida Jeanette "Jean" Freeman's Obituary
Ida Jeanette “Jean” Freeman, age 85 of Scottsboro, AL, transitioned to her eternal home on Monday, January 1, 2018 after a three month battle following a car accident.
Visitation will be held at Rudder Funeral Home in Scottsboro on Saturday, January 6, 2018 from 11am-1pm. The funeral service will immediately follow visitation in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Matt Guess officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Scottsboro.
Jean was born in her home in Swearengin, AL on February 5, 1932 to Billy and Gertrude Kelley Guffey. At an early age, she moved to California to live with her Grandmother. Jean later moved to Texas where she provided bookkeeping for a number of companies for more than 35 years. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, sewing, quilting, and spending time with her friends and family. She spent her life helping others and was dedicated to a number of charities, including MD Anderson Cancer Center. She was a loving Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, and Friend.
Jean is survived by her son, Jackie T. Hart of Fort Worth, TX; two granddaughters, Andrea Kay and Jacqueline of Fort Worth, TX; multiple grandchildren, great grandchildren, and two nieces. Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Mr. Lindsay Guffey of Grant, AL; and her husband, Mr. Tommy Freeman of Gladewater, TX.
