Ila Horton Finley's Obituary
Mrs. Ila Horton Finley, age 91 of Scottsboro, was called home on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at Cloverdale Manor Nursing Home.
Ila, better known as Baby or Aunt Baby to her friends and family, was the daughter of the late Ollie, Sr. and Ruth Green Horton. She married Mr. James Finley on December 21, 1957. Mrs. Finley was a graduate of Alabama A&M University, and was a retired English teacher and postal worker. In her lifetime, Baby lived in many places including Scottsboro, Marengo County, AL, Arizona, and spent most of her adult life in Rantoul, Illinois with her husband, James..
Ila leaves to cherish her memories, her husband of 60 years, James Finley; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, David and Billie Finley of Huntsville, AL; nephews, LaJarvis Provens, Juniful “John-John” Dunn, and Donnie C. Finley; nieces, Ruth Dunn and JaKala Atchley; great niece, Jessica Finley; great nephew, Donnie C. Finley, II; dear friend, Jill Evans; as well as several cousins, extended family and friends. Besides her parents, Baby is also preceded in death by her younger brother, Ollie Horton, Jr., and her older sister, Helen Horton Boyd.
. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 25 from 12-1pm at Rudder Funeral Home in Scottsboro, with the funeral service beginning at 1pm in the funeral home chapel. Rev. James Walker, Jr will officiate and burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at Cloverdale Manor Nursing Home for their care and concern shown to Mrs. Finley throughout her illness.
