Irene Gambel, 79 a life-long resident of Stevenson, AL died Monday, June 29, 2009 at her home. She was a bank teller at First Southern State Bank and had worked there for many, many years. Irene attended Matthews Memorial Baptist Church and was a graduate of Stevenson High School Class of 1947.
Oma Irene Gambel was preceded in death by her parents Arthur Lee and Martha Ethel Wynne Gambel; siblings: Ruth Agnes Gambel, Anna Lucille Gambel Wilkinson and Mack Elbert Gambel.
She is survived by her son Anthony (Johnny) Gambel of Tuscaloosa, AL; nieces: Pamela Wilkinson (Jack) Tucker, Debra Wilkinson Botwin, Glenda Gambel (Bill) Alexander, Gail Gambel (David) Byrd; plus numerous grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday, 5-8 PM CDT at Rudder Funeral Home in Stevenson, AL. The funeral will be 11 AM CDT, Wednesday, July 1, at the funeral home chapel officiated by Rev. Larry Glass. Interment will be at Longacre Cemetery in Stevenson. Memorials in memory of Irene Gambel may be made to the Longacre Cemetery Fund @ First Southern State Bank.
