Jacqueline Harris Scott's Obituary
Ms. Jacqueline Harris Scott was born to the late Charles Henry Harris, Sr. and Rose Ann Clay Harris on January 15, 1951 in Scottsboro, Alabama. Both parents preceded her in death. She departed this life at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee on February 19, 2016.
Jacqueline professed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and joined Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Woodville, Alabama. She later affiliated with Greater St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church in Scottsboro, Alabama. She was a faithful member until her health began to fail.
Jacqueline was united in holy matrimony to the late Roy L. Scott. She was a loving mother to four children. Because of her great love for children, she dedicated her life to their development to become positive and productive citizens. Many still tell the story of how she inspired them.
Jacqueline’s love for community was reflected in her work and organizational memberships. She was a teacher with HeadStart, an Instructional Teacher for the Scottsboro City School System, as well as the Boy’s and Girl’s Club. She was also a member of the Jackson County Voters League and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).
Jacqueline Scott leaves to cherish her memory: four children; Cynthia Harris Richardson, Scottsboro, Alabama; Kelcey Scott, Shenzhen, China; Erica Scott, and Eric (Kelly) Scott, Scottsboro, Alabama; five grandchildren: Alexandria (Alex) Richardson, Donye Richardson, and Aaliyah Scott-Sexton, Scottsboro, Alabama; Ethan Scott, Charleston, South Carolina; and Skylar Scott, Scottsboro, Alabama; one great-grandchild: Jaxson Richardson, Scottsboro, Alabama; two sisters: Stella Harris and Pamellia (Andre’) Williamson, Scottsboro, Alabama; two brothers: Charles Henry Harris, Jr. (Nutt), Scottsboro, Alabama; and Wendell Eugene (Phyllis) Harris, Conyers, Georgia; one brother-in-law, William Robert (Shirley) Scott, Chattanooga, Tennessee; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation for Ms. Scott will be Wednesday, February 24, 2016 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Rudder Funeral Home in Scottsboro. The funeral Service will be Thursday, February 25, 2016 at 2:00 PM at the Greater St. Paul A.M.E. Church. with Rev. Deborah Pepper officiating and burial to follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
