Rev. James Lewis Bernard, Jr., 67 of Bridgeport, AL died August 23, 2011 at Erlanger Health System in Chattanooga, TN. Jim was the son of the late James Lewis and Willie Lee Holley Bernard, born August 29, 1943 in Atlanta, GA. He was a Vietnam U.S. Army Veteran. Rev. Bernard was a minister for 32 years and Pastor of First Baptist Church in Bridgeport, AL for over 20 years
Survivors include his wife of 48 years Nieta Louise Coulter Bernard of Bridgeport, AL; children Haley (Jason) Brown of Chattanooga, TN, Micah (Sabrina) Bernard of Stevenson, AL; grandson Blake Bernard; sister Beverly Conley of Lakeview, GA; niece Angela O'Daniel of Cleveland, TN; nephew David Conley of Birmingham, AL other relatives and a host of friends.
Visitation will be Friday and Saturday 4-8 PM CDT at the First Baptist Church in Bridgeport. The funeral service will be Sunday, August 28, at 2 PM CDT at the church officiated by Rev. David Smith. Interment and Military Honors will be Monday at 11:30 AM EDT at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
