Mr. James Reginald Gibson's Obituary
James Reginald “Rick” Gibson, age 66, of Woodville, AL, passed away on November 4th, 2021. He was the husband of Laurie Gibson; together, they shared 16 wonderful years. Born in Shreveport, LA, on March 31st, 1955, he was the son of Tommie Anita Hodges and Claudie “Hoot” Gibson.
Rick loved traveling with his wife, watching LSU football, collecting guns, riding his motorcycle, and playing with his pets. He was a dedicated and hard worker. For most of his adult life, Rick enjoyed traveling the country as a semi-truck driver. After Rick’s truck driving days came to end, he spent the last 7 years selling outdoor products at his business, Gibson’s Portable Buildings in Scottsboro, AL, where he developed many lifelong friendships and was a well-respected member of the community.
Above all else, Rick was a devoted family man - an excellent husband, father and grandfather. He loved his family more than anything else. He will be remembered for his generosity, his loving heart, and stubbornness.
Rick is survived by his adoring wife, Laurie Gibson; his children, Robert (Amy) Gibson, Sara (Chris) Whitehead, James Gibson Jr., Myra Gibson, and Olivia (James Bennett) Kreydatus; his step-children, Jennifer Stevenson and Elizabeth (Jon) Brewer; his grandchildren, Virginia “Ginna” Guice, Hannah Guice, Jacob “Jax” Whitehead, Kallie Guice, Abbey Gibson, Blake Gibson, Kamryn Peterson, Anthony Brand, Hannah Cronk, Gaea Stevenson, Eloise Stevenson, Jonathan Brewer, and Layla Brewer; his great-grandchildren, Elijah Carden and Grant Guice; his brother, Leonard “Dooley” Gibson Sr.; his mother-in-law, Betty Thomas; and many nieces and nephews. Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Tommie Anita (Jimmy) Hodges and Claudie “Hoot” Gibson; his siblings, Claudia McWilliams, Thomas “Buster” Gibson, Dorothy Hodges, and Joyce Bascus; and his father-in-law, Charles Thomas.
Services will be held on Wednesday, November 10th, at Rudder Funeral Home in Scottsboro, AL. Visitation will take place from 1-3 PM and 5-7 PM, with memorial services at 7 PM.
