James Larry Nevels III's Obituary
James Larry Nevels, III (known to many as “Hooker” or “Coach”) age 74 of Scottsboro, AL, passed away on Friday, August 26, 2016 at Brookside Glen Memory Care in Columbus, GA. He was born in Fackler, AL on January 20, 1942 to the late James L. Nevels, II and Ollie Dobbins Nevels, and was their only son of six children. He was a 1961 graduate of Scottsboro High School, where he was an excellent student athlete. He attended Florence State College where he played basketball. He was a teacher and coach after college before changing careers to enter sales and management. Mr. Nevels was the owner and manager of All Seasons Heating and Air. He had a love for sports, especially golf, and was an enthusiastic competitor. He was a unique character loved by many and almost always seen smiling. He was also a member of First Baptist Church of Scottsboro. He is survived by the mother of his three children, Jane A. Nevels; daughter, Allison (Pat) Autrey of Auburn, AL; sons, Jim (Stacey) Nevels of Albertville, AL, and Lance Nevels of Paint Rock, AL; four grandchildren, Allie and Avery Nevels, and Ella and Max Autrey; five sisters, Reba Casteel, Ann Culpepper, Frances (Leon) Mitchell, Bonnie (Ricky) Downey, and Jo Henegar; special caregivers, Erica Griggs, Minnie Moss, Lacey Ford, Tashayla Ford, and Ann Jones; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Scottsboro with visitation from 12-3 PM, and the funeral service will begin at 3 PM. Bro. R.C. King will officiate, and burial will follow at Pinehaven Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Ben Sanford Boys & Girls Club of Scottsboro (309 N.
