James Roote's Obituary
James William "Jim" Roote, 80 of Stevenson, AL, was born on March 5, 1938 and died at home with his family on June 1, 2018. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Catherine Jones Roote. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Jay Campbell and Mary Ida Dean Key Roote; brother Jay; sister Catherine; and brothers-in-law Parker Williams and Alston Jones. He is also survived by his sisters: Beverly (Sam) Hall, Barbara Williams; three children: Catherine Roote, Carolyn (Brett) Nisonger; James (Leilani) Roote; nine grandchildren: Robert, Jeremy, Alexandria, Katie (Brandon), Shayne, Chloe, Holly, Tesslynne and Levi; sister-in-law Karen Jones; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Jim graduated in 1962 from University of Tennessee with a degree in electrical engineering and accepted a job with Boeing and then accepted a position in Texas with Texas Instruments where he worked over 30 years before he and Mary retired to the family home in Stevenson. Jim was a member of Stevenson Cumberland Presbyterian Church and served as Elder, Sunday School Teacher, Choir Member and also a member of the Presbyterian Church in McKinney, TX.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service. The Funeral Service will be Monday, June 4, at 2 PM CDT, at Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Stevenson officiated by Rev. Charles Hughes and Rev. Brad Hall. Interment will be in Stevenson City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the C.P. Church. www.rudderfuneralhomes.com
