James Richard "Teddy Bear" Summers, 59 life-long resident of Stevenson, AL died February 10, 2009 at his home. He was born in the Rash Community of Stevenson, AL to George Washington and Janie Ann Roberts Summerson October 6, 1949. He worked over 23 years for the City of Stevenson Maintenance Department.
Besides his parents, Mr. Summers was preceded in death by his son Jessie James Summers; brothers: John M. Summers, Pleas Summers, Glenn Summers; sisters Dorothy Summers, Annie Lee Johnson.
He is survived by his step-daughter Evelyn Staten of Guntersville, AL; grandson Daniel Chase Summers Thomas; brothers and sisters: Fannie Sanders of Hollywood, AL, Mary Ruth Peacock of Bridgeport, AL, Jewell Culver of Bridgeport, Beatrice Wilkerson of Chicago, IL, Alice Summers of Stevenson, Gladys Stewart of Stevenson, Charley "Bill" Summers of Bridgeport, Ed Summers of Stevenson, Janice Seale of South Pittsburg, TN; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be Wednesday 5-9 PM, Thursday 10 AM-9 PM CST at Rudder Funeral Home in Stevenson, AL. The funeral will be Friday, February 13, at 1 PM CST at the funeral home chapel. Interment will be at Longacre Cemetery in Stevenson, AL.
