Jim Pitts was the most loyal of men. Him and my dad had become coffee drinking buddy's the last 15 years. In honor of him tonight I will have a martini and eat some sour onion potato chips

It's hard to imagine Scottsboro without Jim Pitt!!!! Anyone who knew him will agree that God threw away the mold when he made Jim!!!! I worked at Jim Pitt's Gifts in high school (my first job) and learned more about customer service on my first day, than a corporation could teach in an entire career!!!! A true "Southern Gentleman" in every way, Jim made everyone feel at home the minute you walked into his shop~~always quick with an over the top compliment or an often, "off color" comment!!! I know people came into the shop as much for a dose of Jim Pitt as they did for a gift! The stories from those years are endless and PRICELESS!
I will miss his Christmas cards each year, catching me up on trips, grandchildren, and ailments!!! I loved opening the mailbox and seeing that distinctive Jim Pitt handwriting~~my whole family knew we were in for a treat!!!
RIP, Jim!!! Heaven will shine a littler brighter with you in it. I love you!

Mr. Pitt would always make me smile. Each month I waited on him as he would pay his utility bill. Each month he would say the same thing as he drove off "Do you take bad checks". He would laugh and make me laugh as well. I have known Mr. Pitt for many years and have always had the highest respect for him and his character. I'm so sorry for the families loss.
I remember as a young girl coming into Jim Pitt Gifts with my Aunt Mildred Crow and my mother, Opalea Webb. Jim was always such an upbeat happy person. I remember all the laughter when Aunt Mildred and Jim talked. Seems like all the "greats" are leaving us behind on this earth. Jim, you will be missed by LOTS of people whose lives you touched. Enjoy Heaven and say hello to Mama, Mimi and Mary Du!
