Jesse Lee Bynum's Obituary
Mr. Jesse Lee Bynum passed away at his home Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at his home in Gardendale, Alabama, he was 69 years old. Funeral services will be held in the Rudder Funeral Home Chapel-Stevenson on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 beginning at 11:00AM. Burial will be in the Stevenson Community Cemetery.
Jesse Lee Bynum was born on August 27, 1952, in Stevenson, Alabama, and transitioned on Wednesday, December 15, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, John H. and Kathrine Bynum; and brother George Bynum; all from Stevenson, Alabama.
Jesse accepted the call to preach the word of God at an early age and began assisting at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Stevenson, Alabama. He attended Jackson County Schools and later moved to Birmingham, Alabama to begin his full-time pastoral journey at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church.
He leaves to cherish his memories: loving wife Clara Stevens Bynum, daughter Jessica Bynum; granddaughters, Briana and Taniya Bynum, Jada Kyle; great-granddaughter Peyton Nash; Brothers, James Bynum, Phillip Bynum; God-daughter Sherrell Sullivan Meeks (Shawn) and Martrece Brown. A host of nieces, nephews, friends, and church families.
Rev. Jesse L. Bynum pastored for forty-seven years at the following churches:
Mt. Pleasant UMC, Birmingham, AL Hopewell UMC, Village Springs, AL New Hope UMC, Talladega, AL Smith Chapel UMC, Talladega, AL Morning Star UMC, Bessemer, AL Douglasville UMC, Birmingham, AL Bethlehem UMC, Oneonta, AL
