Jimmy Lee Thompson, Sr., 67 of Stevenson, AL, died March 27, 2014 at Highlands Medical Center. Jim was the son of the late Dewitt and Eunice Odell Jenkins Thompson born November 22, 1946 in Stevenson, AL. He was retired from Arnold Air Force Base, a welder, member of Local Union 498, an avid fisherman and gardener.
Besides his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his grandparents: Charlie and Nora Whiteacre Thompson, Andrew and Mahalia Waters Jenkins; sisters: Carolyn Rodgers, Sherry Thompson; brothers: John W. Thompson, CA Thompson, Ike Thompson, Dewitt Thompson, Jr,, and Jack Thompson.
Survivors include: his wife of 47 years Donna Marie Steen Thompson; daughter Katie (Ty) Duke of Smyrna, TN; sons: Jimmy Jr. "Bump" (Stacey) Thompson, Brandon D. Thompson of Scottsboro, AL; grandchildren: Justin Thompson, Kurt McKnight, Jonathan and Carson Thompson, Brentt Batts, Nikki Thompson, Destiny Patterson, Jacob Patterson, Braxton Thompson; great-grandchildren: Elizabeth Marie McKnight, Dallas R. Thompson and Bryant L. Thompson; sisters: Faye (Carl) Atkins of Bridgeport, AL, Sarah Thompson of Palm Harbor, FL, Joyce Shafer of Chattanooga, TN; brother: Gary "Buddy" Thompson of Bridgeport, AL; brother-in-law Fred Rodgers of Crow Mountain, AL; great aunt Alice Dew of Chattanooga, TN; beloved companions Sam and Daisy Thompson; a bunch of wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 1, 1:00-3:00 PM CDT at Rudder Funeral Home in Stevenson, AL. The Graveside Service will follow at Pinehaven Memorial Gardens in Hollywood, AL. www.rudderfuneralhomes.com.
