Joe Vance Paris, 76 of Bridgeport, AL, died February 7, 2011 at Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville, AL. Joe was the son of the late John Russell and Joe Alma Abbott Paris born May 15, 1934 in Bridgeport, AL. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1952-1956. Joe was a retired supervisor with (Penn-Dixie ) Kosmos/CMex Cement Company having worked over 30 years. Mr. Paris was a member of First Baptist Church in Bridgeport and also the Bridgeport Masonic Lodge 543.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years Karen Lois Cooper Paris; son Mike (Kathy) Paris of Scottsboro, AL; granddaughter Brooke Paris of Scottsboro, AL; sisters: Sarah (Troy) Cooper of Red Bank, TN, Sharon (George) Douglas of Hixson, TN; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Besides his parents; Joe was preceded in death by his sister Barbara Matthews and brother William Paris.
Visitation will be Tuesday, 5-9 PM CT at Rudder Funeral Home in Bridgeport, AL. The funeral service will be Wednesday, February 9, at 2 PM CT at the funeral home chapel officiated by Rev. Jim Bernard. Interment will be at the Abbott's Chapel Cemetery in Bridgeport. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Joe V.
