John Wesley Singleton, Jr., 87 of Stevenson, AL died January 29, 2012 at Highland Medical Center in Scottsboro, AL. John was the son of the late John Wesley and Flossie Sue Stephens Singleton, Sr. born January 21, 1925 in Pell City, Alabama. He was a WWII U. S. Army Veteran. John was a retired office manager with Avondale Mills having been with the company approximately 30 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Stevenson, a member of Ben M. Jacobs Masonic Lodge No. 643 in Pell City, AL and enjoyed making stained-glass lamps as a hobby.
Besides his parents, Mr. Singleton was preceded in death by his sister Mary Richardson.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years Joyce Ritch Singleton of Stevenson; sons: Mark Singleton of Huntsville, AL, Scott (Tanya) Singleton of Winchester, VA; grandchildren: Corey and Chelsea Singleton; nieces Susan Krueger, Joy Hayes; nephew Clay Richardson.
Visitation will be Tuesday 4-9 PM CT at Rudder Funeral Home in Stevenson, AL. The funeral service will be Wednesday, February 1, at 2 PM CT at the funeral home chapel officiated by Rev. Bill Stone. Interment will be at Stevenson City Cemetery. www.rudderfuneralhomes.com.
