Leonard A. Berry's Obituary
Leonard A. Berry, age 85, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at his home in Scottsboro, AL. Mr. Berry was retired from GTE after twenty years of service. He also spent eight years prior to GTE with Bell Labs. Mr. Berry was a Senior Olympian participating in all events but specialized in swimming and track and field. Leonard was an avid ballroom dancer, a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, a member of the American Legion in both Guntersville and Huntsville, and a WW II Army veteran.
Leonard is survived by his wife, Peggy Bailey Berry of Scottsboro; sons, Daniel (Sherry Major) Berry of Langston, Michael Berry of Steubenville, Ohio, Christian (Susan Rudolph) Berry of Hopewell, New Jersey; daughter, Susan (Richard) Leo, of Columbia City, Indiana; sister, Lillian Schlinder of Dayton, Ohio; and grandchildren, David Berry, Jessica Berry, and Julia Leo.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 18, 2013 at Rudder Funeral Home in Scottsboro beginning at 2:00PM. Visitation will be held one hour prior from 1:00~2:00PM also at Rudder Funeral Home.
