Mrs. Linda Lambert Thomas' Obituary
Linda Gail Lambert Thomas passed away January 3rd, 2023 surrounded by her loving
family. Linda was born March 14th, 1948 in Bridgeport, AL. She was an active member of
Bridgeport First Baptist since she was 8 years old. Linda was a 1966 graduate of Bridgeport
High School (BHS) where she was also active in the band, a majorette, a drum major, and a
member of many school clubs. Linda was voted “Best Dressed,” was Class Vice President and
also wrote the senior class poem. Linda met the love of her life Doug at BHS, and they were
married in 1966. Linda and Doug were married 56 years and have 4 children: Lisa (Randy)
Ball, Tracy (Penny) Thomas, Charity (Tony) Richards, and Misty (Josh) Harris, 9 grandchildren:
Trevor (Mallory) Ball, Peyton (Shelbi) Ball, Jarod (Molly) Ball, Will & Jadalyn Thomas, Trey &
Cooper Richards, Thomas & Elijah Harris, and 2 great-grandsons: Indy & Arden Ball.
Linda was also survived by her siblings Alfred (Ellen) Lambert Jr, Ann (Ronnie) Born,
Kathy (Ronnie) Wells, Pam (Bruce) Owens, and Janet (Bobby) Steele. She was preceded in
death by her parents Alfred Monroe & Anna Belle Lambert and brother James (Donna) Lambert.
Beautiful, Loving, Humble, Selfless, Kind-hearted, Giving and Serving are just a few of
the words that could describe Linda. She was a fiercely dedicated wife, mother, and Granny
(Gigi). Linda had a heart to serve Jesus by serving others. She was involved in many
ministries throughout her life: Children’s VBS, Kids Choir, Pianist, Organist, Sound engineer,
Senior adults, and Chaplain at hospitals with her husband. She ministered to widows & shut-ins
through gift baskets & visits, provided home-made jellies to the Lions Club to raise money for
scholarships, and provided meals to families during difficult times.
A ministry that set Linda’s heart on fire started with a single shoebox 25 years ago and
grew to a passion to reach the ends of the Earth called Operation Christmas Child. 1 shoebox
filled with gifts, packed with love, and the Good News of Jesus can change:
1 Child + 1 Friend + 1 Family + 1 Community = 4 Eternity
In lieu of flowers, a link has been set up to build a shoebox online in her honor to
continue this amazing ministry. The awesome thing about building these shoeboxes online is
Linda will still be helping to spread the message of Jesus to the darkest and most remote areas
of this world. To God be the glory!
For the Lord is good and His love endures forever, His faithfulness continues through all
generations. Psalms 100:5
