Myrtle Louise Matthews Ellison, 87 of Hammond, IN, died February 19, 2016. Louise was the daughter of the late Campbell Carroll and Myrtle Brodgin Matthews born June 6, 1928 in Stevenson, AL. She was a Stevenson High School graduate. Louise had worked at the Ball Glass Company as a packer. She loved watching TV evangelists all day long and was a free-hearted, very generous person to anyone in need.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Jim Blevins; great-granddaughter Ashley Blevins; sisters Florence Matthews, Elizabeth Ferris, Mary Dixon Matthews and Emma Jean Matthews.
Survivors include her children: William "Pete" (Susan) Blevins of Stevenson, AL and Cathy Comforti of Hammond, IN; grandchildren: Tracy (Robert) Ledbetter, Laurisa (Mark) Lanners, Lisa (Jerrod) Hutchins, Minister Senice (Minister Carlos) Harris, Laura Blevins, Michael Comforti, Mary (Jim) O'Connor, Scott (Lacy) Lindsey; 17 great-grandchildren; great-great-granddaughter Aaliyah Blevins; special nieces Shirley Poe and Linda Poe; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be at the Matthews Memorial Church Tuesday beginning at 2 PM CT. The Funeral Service will be Wednesday, February 24, at 2 PM CT officiated by Rev. Larry Glass. Interment will be in Matthews Cemetery. www.rudderfuneralhomes.
